Drifter is a small-batch custom coachbuilder specializing in luxury custom campervans and Class B motorhomes built on Ford Transit and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. Each Drifter is coachcrafted to the Drifter standard—designed from the inside out by a Production Designer and Interior Designer working together before the build ever reaches the production floor.
We commission a limited number of vans each year as part of our Collection Series, allowing us to deliver highly personalized layouts, professional interior design, and integrated systems for remote work, off-grid travel, and extended journeys. The result is not a typical van conversion, but a Drifter Custom Coach—built with intention, craftsmanship, and long-term ownership in mind.
Both. Drifter offers a set of Signature Layouts—including the Wanderer, Drifter, Scout, and Nomadik—which serve as proven starting points for how the space flows. These layouts help owners begin with confidence, but they are not fixed packages or pre-designed builds.
Every Drifter is coachcrafted, whether it starts from a Signature Layout or from a completely blank canvas. Owners can also work directly with our Production Designer and Interior Designer to create a fully custom layout tailored to how they travel, work, and live. Different starting point, same outcome: a one-of-a-kind Drifter Custom Coach built to the Drifter standard.
Yes—every Drifter Signature Layout is built using our Coachcraft approach. Signature Layouts are simply different starting points for how the space flows. Regardless of which layout you choose, each coach is developed by a Production Designer and Interior Designer working together, then handcrafted on the production floor with the same standards, materials, and attention to detail.
The differences between layouts come down to how you travel and how you want to use the space.
The Wanderer Signature Layout
Designed for weekend adventurers and road-trippers who value simplicity and open space. The Wanderer features an open floor plan without an indoor shower, relying instead on an outdoor shower at the rear doors. A toilet can be discreetly integrated into a bench drawer if desired. It’s available in both 20-foot and 22-foot lengths, offering flexibility based on driving preference and interior space.
The Drifter Signature Layout
Closely related to the Wanderer, but with added interior functionality. The Drifter includes an indoor flip-down Tetra shower located near the sliding door, which tucks into cabinetry when not in use. A toilet option can also be integrated into the bench. Available in 20-foot and 22-foot lengths, this layout is ideal for longer trips or full-time travel, offering expanded living space and high functionality.
The Scout Signature Layout
A compact, efficient layout designed for solo or minimalist travelers. The Scout features a full wetbath, clever built-in storage, and comfortable forward seating, delivering everything needed in a smaller footprint without sacrificing Coachcraft standards.
The Nomadik Signature Layout
Built for extended off-grid travel and gear-heavy lifestyles. The Nomadik includes elevated systems, flexible storage, a full wetbath, and cozy seating near the bed, creating a warm, residential feel that works well for long journeys or full-time living.
All Signature Layouts are fully customizable and include professional interior design, premium materials, and handcrafted finishes. Different layout, same outcome: a one-of-a-kind Drifter Custom Coach, built to the Drifter standard.
Drifter does not sell pre-built or inventory vans. Every Drifter is built to order. We commission each coach individually, working directly with owners to design and build a custom Class B motorhome to their specifications.
Because we operate as a small-batch custom coachbuilder, we do not keep vans on the lot. Each project moves through our Proprietary Production Process, ensuring the layout, systems, and interior design are tailored specifically to how you plan to travel and live.
We recommend reserving your build slot 6–24 months in advance, depending on the Collection Series, design complexity, and current production schedule. Because Drifter operates as a small-batch custom coachbuilder and commissions a limited number of builds each year, availability fills well ahead of production start dates.
During your initial consultation, we’ll review current openings, expected timelines, and help you determine the best collection year to target based on your goals and travel plans.
Every Drifter custom coach includes a comprehensive warranty covering the craftsmanship and systems installed by Drifter, including electrical, plumbing, cabinetry, heating and cooling, interior components, and integrated systems. This coverage is available in one-year or two-year options, depending on the package selected.
Owners may also choose to upgrade to a nationwide DrifterCare warranty, which extends support beyond our production floor in Michigan. With nationwide coverage, if an issue arises while traveling, DrifterCare helps coordinate service through qualified repair facilities across the country, assists with troubleshooting, and supports parts replacement as needed—so owners are not required to return to Michigan for service.
The vehicle chassis itself remains protected under the original manufacturer warranty from Ford or Mercedes-Benz. Warranty terms and coverage options vary by build and collection year, but all options are designed to provide a clear, dependable ownership experience and long-term confidence on the road.
